I’m not a quitter. If I commit to something, I see it through.
One of the first courses I took in my master’s program in Engineering Technical Management was on project management. That led me to start preparing for the Project Management Professional exam. I had already paid for and scheduled the exam before I knew about my promotion.
The certification may feel unrelated to running a manufacturing and test department, but the process gave me perspective. By understanding project management more deeply, I can better support our project manager leaders. I know what they are up against and the challenges they face, and that insight makes me a stronger partner.
Yesterday I took the exam and passed, Above Target in every section.
At first, I was not sure I would even mention it. But when I reached out to my project management professor to thank her for preparing me, she reminded me that this is no easy feat. It is a hard test. That encouragement made me realize it is worth sharing, even if it feels a world away from my career path today.
Mostly, I am just thankful to have this one checked off the list, something I committed to for my own growth and development.
