This was a cold one, but OH SO CUTE! I shot this family session the second weekend of November in Rocky Mountain National Park up in Estes Park, Colorado—one of the most beautiful places to visit! Winter time can be a challenge up at the park due to windy, ever-changing mountain conditions and snow! We lucked out and missed the big storm by ONE day!

Cold Noses and Warm Hearts

Since it was so chilly, we kept everyone especially the baby, bundled up in jackets and coats but so worth it! I actually think the winter gear adds lots of character to the photos and makes them even more memorable—perfect to go along with “Remember When...” stories after the kids are grown. The kids loved exploring and playing in the grassy valley, so they were too distracted to worry about the weather (I thought about running along after them to stay warm!) This family was so precious and all smiles throughout the session, even baby girl—she was too cute for words in her snowsuit!!

Moraine Park (inside RMNP) is about a two-hour drive from Highlands Ranch. If shooting out there, we recommend staying in one of the many cabins at least one night so you aren't stressed for time and can spend time exploring! The shorter days leave less time for commuting, and the park is too beautiful to not explore.

Since it was a little bit of a trip, I scheduled a couple family shoots for that weekend, and it was a blast—I cannot wait to head back out again!
