Ahhh…fall in Colorado. Everyone’s favorite time of year, at least around here it is! But come on, how in the world could it not be?! Colorado falls are some of the most stunning in the nation. I might be biased, but I would go as far as saying there’s nowhere more beautiful in the entire world. Or…it might just be the beauty of the families I get to work with. Either way, I’m one lucky girl to be a Colorado mountain family photographer.

What to Wear for Your Next Fall Session

One of the questions I get asked most often when scheduling family sessions is, “what should we wear?”. It truly is a great question. A well-planned wardrobe can take a family portrait from great, to stunning! There are a few guidelines to keep in mind when planning your next family session!

  1.     Stick to organic colors – You are, after all, in the beauty and glory of Mother Nature’s paint palette. It’s best to stick to the same color family. Neons and harsh, stark colors tend to clash. Try sticking with navy blue, grey, maroon, muted yellows, dark earthy green and any jewel tones. Oh, and NO solid white shirts! Use stark white as an accent color only!
  2.     Coordinate. Don’t match – We’ve all seen the cringe-worthy 90’s portraits. Everyone is in matching shirts and of course, denim. Try switching it up a bit. Coordinate color palettes, rather than exact prints and specific outfits.
  3.     Be realistic with your footwear choices – When was the last time you went hiking in heels? Keep in mind when it comes to mountain photography, there will inevitably be a few trails you’ll need to face before getting to your ideal location. So unless you’re a fan of aerating the ground, boots might be your best option :)

As a premier Colorado mountain photographer, I would love to help you fill your gallery wall with timeless memories and precious moments. Let's chat!
